Taking inspiration from the fashions of the Victorian era, Alisa creates gowns that combine antique details with delicately modern touch. Looking at her collections I think I want to get married all over again!

She is launching a new collection and inviting you for an exclusive preview of 2010 Winter Collection before it hits runways! All brides will have a private, one-on-one showing and will receive special buying incentives. Call 303.646.7055 to schedule your appointment.

Alisa Benay

From her own words Alisa says: “After graduating from Kent State University with a degree in Fashion Design, I worked as a custom bridal gown designer. Working one on one with brides over the past 15 years taught me much about what brides really want in their gowns. I have combined my vintage gown obsession with my knowledge of bride’s needs and have launched my new line of vintage inspired couture gowns for the modern bride. I comb the marketplace to bring my brides the most unique and romantic gown possible with custom made European trims and laces, silhouettes not found any where else in the bridal industry, and matching heirloom veils and jewelry to complete the vintage inspired romantic look.”.

After knowing all this about her, I am sure all of the brides wearing her creations will go down the isle, knowing their wedding gown is truly amazing and one of a kind!

Andrea and Dan: Engagement

See the cute dog in the first picture? That’s Francois. A french bulldog with a fancy name and absolutely adorable owners. Francois was adopted a little over a year ago by Andrea and Dan. Frankly, if I were Francois, I wouldn’t want anyone else adopting me. He is so loved, cared and pampered. Can you expect less affection from two people already madly in love with each other?

Dan is into social work. Andrea works for a non-profit Pediatric AIDS Foundation. I am sure I do not have to write more for you to understand that this couple is all about giving.

I will spare the beginning of their love story until they get married on March 21st. Nothing short of a miracle. Nasim and I are honored to be chosen as their wedding photographers and are looking forward for the perfect day! 21st of March is special. It is the day when day and night are equal in length. According to the Zoroastrian Calendar, it is the first day of Spring and the beginning of a New Year. Coincidence? Let’s say Andrea and Dan are a match made in heaven. Let 21st of March, the first day of spring be a symbolic meaning of their new life as a husband and wife.

We met for the engagement session at a park right next to their new home. While it was a little chilly, both Andrea and Dan were filled with energy. Oh, and Francois was ΓΌber-cooperative. Isn’t he adorable?

KL - Congratulations on their wedding and to you guys for getting the opportunity to photograph them. Yes, the dog is adorable and was giving quite a pose to be photographed :-). Seems like both of you are Uzbek; Uzbekistan is a beautiful country of whatever I have seen in pictures and documentaries. So, it would be great if you two start writing something about your country, culture and also post photos :-).

March 17, 2010 - 10:04 pm

Nasim Mansurov - KL, thank you for stopping by and dropping a comment!

I keep telling my wife that we need to start writing about Uzbekistan. The problem is that we are currently unable to travel back and forth and take lots of pictures. Hopefully we will do that in the future πŸ™‚

As for now, my wife posts some recipes of Uzbek food on her recipes page – please check it out and try some of our food – I am sure that you will love it! If you cannot make it yourself, come to Colorado and we will be more than glad to host you here and serve you the traditional Uzbek cuisine πŸ™‚

StudioWed Denver Grand Opening Soiree

I am sure every bride who enters the premises of StudioWed will find comfort and assurance that their special day is in the safe hands of true professionals. Debbie and her team did an outstanding job creating such a warm atmosphere. Kudos to you guys!

Images of Love

I am the type of person who likes to sit and go through some old boxes and check out the contents. I get excited like a baby when I find something very memorable and interesting. It can be anything from a receipt of my favorite purchase, 11 year old torn T-shirt given to me by my best friend or my son’s first teether, etc. I might also drop a tear or two remembering those moments embossed in far corners of my memory.

Nowadays, my habit goes beyond boxes and pockets of my jackets – I carried it on to our Lightroom folders. When I went back and reviewed older images, I found some amazing pictures, which were not chosen as favorites at the time and were bound to be not seen until someone accidentally stumbled upon them. I decided to break this torturous routine and started picking another set of my favorite images. For this particular post, I chose images from Kristi and Don’s wedding. There are some details and emotions that I really like in these photographs. I decided to post them here so that people can remember how good it is to witness love and its perky details over and over again!

WebMonster - Excellent photos Hilola!
Good emotions, interesting shots. But I didn’t find the picture #9 from above. The groom could express his emotions and there is an impression as if he is kissing the bride only because he has to do it.

And did you use a filter on images #2, 4, 5 and 6 or is it a lightroom effect?

November 23, 2009 - 3:44 pm

Lola - Ah, Webmonster, Nasim was right. You should know the story behind the kiss to understand what was going on there. He warned me that I might get aresponse like yours πŸ™‚ It was a sudden surprise kiss and groom was caught a little off guard. Plus there is a corner of the table btw them, which is not visible here. That probably creates a feeling of her being more eager to kiss than the groom. I think I am going to remove this picture.

Regarding 2,4,5 those are filters I used to vintage the pictures up a little πŸ™‚

Kristi - Lola & Nasim,

I haven’t read your blog in awhile and decided to check it out today. I just love seeing the photos. I cannot tell you how many compliments we’ve received. I’ve been asked how in the world did I find such amazing photographers. πŸ™‚

I saw the comment about Don kissing me because he had to. πŸ˜‰

Don and I haven’t forgotten you and hope to repay the huge favor you did for us sometime in the near future. We hope your beautiful family is well and happy.

Lola - Hi Kristi,

Awww, it is so nice to hear from you! I absolutely am happy that you log in to our site πŸ™‚

Don’t mind the comment about the kiss. Our friend there is a photographer himself and a very good friend of ours. So, when he gives ideas and criticism I can only respect his thoughts. We all know how much Don adores you! Say hi to Don, we miss you guys a lot!

Kisses and hugs!

Lika and Roland: Engagement

Lika and Roland #1

Art, inspiration, extraordinaire, passion, love, warmth, raw beauty, style, laughter, fun, care, tea, pies, etc. These are the things that keep on visiting my mind while I am brainstorming on how to deliver my thought about our two unique soon to be married friends: Lika and Roland.Β Surely, all of the words above will find their own spots in my tribute to this amazing couple. But at this exact moment, I want to move your attention to a Beatles song which has been inspiring me for a while:
